Youth inclusion garden
Green-thumbed volunteers have turned garden beds outside Mosman Youth Centre on The Crescent into a permaculture spring wonderland and learnt some handy skills in the process.
Eight young volunteers have been busy planting fruit, vegetables and herbs, including a range of native species, this year, for the centre to use to create healthy meals, while food waste from the kitchen and paper from the office is recycled through composting and worm bins to enrich the garden.
The Green Thumbs group is one of several volunteer programs which enable high school students aged 14 to 18 to get involved in the community, develop new skills and meet likeminded people.
Contact Chris on 9978 4277 to find out more about the programs which focus on a variety of community based projects, events and initiatives and run during school terms.
