Outdoor fitness extends to Rawson Park
Mosman Council has responded to the popularity of outdoor fitness stations by establishing a third training area with the installation of new exercise equipment at Rawson Park.
The equipment, made of marine grade materials and housed at four locations next to the footpath around Rawson Oval, offers a range of fitness exercises for the entire body and any age group.
“Council has responded to the growing popularity of outdoor fitness stations by installing modern fitness equipment suitable for all age groups in aesthetically pleasing locations around Mosman,” Director Environment and Planning Craig Covich said.
“The equipment has been designed to integrate into the existing environment with pieces positioned a short distance apart.”
Mosman’s first fitness stations were installed at Balmoral Oval with Spit West Reserve’s set installed more recently in 2015. Upgrade work is planned for the Balmoral equipment in the new financial year.
The Rawson Park project was identified as a key priority in the Mosman Open Space Recreational Needs Assessment study adopted by council in 2015.
Costs for supply and installation of stations range from $5,000 to $10,000 per piece of equipment, depending on type and landscaping requirements.
