An Extraordinary Council Meeting will be held on Tuesday 17 January 2017 at 7pm to consider the lodgement of a submission to the Minister for Local Government in response to the amended Delegates report on the Mosman, North Sydney and Willoughby Council merger proposal. Members of the public are welcome.

Mosman Council will be installing a shade sail over Rosherville Reserve Playground.

This project has been identified in the Rosherville Reserve Plan of Management. The height of the shade sail will be lower than the surrounding tree canopy cover and the color of the poles will be dark grey with a natural sand color shade sail. Plans and images of the sails are included in the documents in the menu to the right.

Notification ends on 31 January 2017 with installation planned for February 2017.

Council’s Annual report for the 2015-16 financial year was tabled at the Council meeting on Tuesday 8 November and will now be referred to the Minister for Local Government. The annual report now also incorporates the Mayoral Annual Report.

Mosman Council broadcasts its meetings via webcast for the ease of access of residents and ratepayers.

Council implemented webcasting of its Council meetings on 4 October 2016 following its July 2016 Council resolution to consult the community on amendments to its Code of Meeting Practice to allow the transmission and broadcast of Council meetings via webcast.

Residential Parking Permits for 2016/17 are now available for eligible residents. You can apply for permits online or in person at the Civic Centre.

To renew a permit for 2016/17 you must be an existing owner of a Mosman property and have a 2015/16 Foreshore Parking Permit showing the registration number of the vehicle for which the permit is to be applied.

An Extraordinary Council Meeting has been called for Wednesday 21 September 2016 commencing at 7pm to determine what further action, if any, should be undertaken having regard to the judgment handed down in Mosman Council’s case against the Minister for Local Government in relation to the Local Government Reform Process.

As the Mayor has determined the matter to be an emergency, less than three days’ notice is provided pursuant to Clause 7(3) of Council’s Code of Meeting Practice.

The meeting scheduled for Wednesday 26 October has been cancelled. The next meeting will be held on Wednesday 7 December 2016.

Mosman Council will not be holding an election as previously scheduled in September 2016. An election date for Mosman Council has not been announced and has been deferred subject to the decision of the courts regarding its merger proposal with North Sydney and Willoughby City Councils.

Congratulations to Mosman Art Gallery for receiving another accolade for it’s award-winning exhibition, Bungaree’s Farm, at the Local Government Week 2016 Awards Evening held on 4 August 2016. Bungaree’s Farm was announced as the winner of the RH Dougherty Awards 2016 Innovation in Special Events category (Division A – populations less than 30,000).

Bungaree’s Farm was a site specific exhibition curated by Djon Mundine to mark the 200th anniversary of the establishment of Bungaree’s Farm at Mosman by Governor Macquarie. The exhibition featured the work of contemporary Aboriginal artists including Daniel Boyd, Jason Wing, Peter McKenzie, Leanne Tobin, Amala Groom, Black Douglas (Adam Hill), Caroline Oakley, Bjorn Stewart, Karla Dickens, Warwick Keen and Djon Mundine.
