Mosman Voices
Mosman Library Service’s commitment to the preservation of the history of Mosman is reflected in the collection of oral history interviews with local residents, business people or members of community groups, sports club and societies. The first interview was recorded in 1981 and since then the collection has evolved into a valuable local resource.
Oral histories online at Mosman Voices features highlights from the oral history collection with excerpts from selected interviews on a variety of topics.
It is now possible to listen to recollections of the night the Japanese submarines entered Sydney Harbour; the dairy at Beauty Point; riding billy-carts down Mosman’s treacherous streets; commuters dashing through Taronga Zoo to catch the last ferry and swimmers tempting sharks at Sirius Cove.
Extracts continue to be added building a wonderful resource from the personal viewpoint of those who have lived or worked in Mosman.
