Jeanine Wilmot was twice women's world champion in the Cherub sailing class, taking the trophy in Perth, 1969, and New Zealand, 1973.
She had been State champion in the Flying Ant class in 1967 and in the Cherub class in 1969, in open - male and female - competition.
Racing in Suva, Fiji, in 1972, she beat all-comers, again in open competition, to become South Pacific Javelin class champion.
In 1974, Jeanine Wilmot represented Australia in the 420 class at the first IYRU Women's Sailing World Championships, where she partnered her sister Rowena Chapman.
In 1983, she was a "spouse-member" of the historic America's Cup-winning Australia II team, her husband Hugh Treharne being tactician on that crew. She also provided live radio commentary of the Cup for 2GB with John Raedler, whose "stand up Australia" call became legendary.
Growing up by the water in one of Australia's great sailing families, Jeanine Wilmot was Dux of Middle Harbour Public School in 1966.
