Pavilion scores global recognition
The successful Allan Border Oval Pavilion building project has been chosen as a finalist in NSW and international awards for architecture and local government.
The pavilion is a finalist in the Architizer A+Awards, in the Architecture + Community category, one of five entries globally to be shortlisted. The A+Awards is one of the largest awards programs focused on promoting and celebrating the year’s best architecture and spaces.
The project has also been chosen as a finalist in the 2025 NSW Local Government Excellence Awards. Awards organiser Local Government Professionals Australia, NSW, said the application was a standout from a highly competitive field of nominations. The pavilion is a finalist in the category ‘Asset and Infrastructure - Over $1.5 million - Under 50K Population’.
Winners and Highly Commended in each category will be announced in June. The awards celebrate groundbreaking projects and visionary leaders making a difference in communities, shining a spotlight on the contributions of local government professionals and the innovation driving change across the sector.
In late 2024, the pavilion won a prestigious international Architecture MasterPrize for Recreational Architecture, one of six projects awarded globally in the category.
Council worked on the pavilion project with architect Archer Office and builder Reitsma Constructions.
