The extraordinary level of community engagement in the Mosman Masterplan demonstrates how deeply residents care about the future of our community. Following more than 4,000 interactions through a survey, written submissions, a webinar and drop-in sessions, we will bring the next phase of the Mosman Masterplan to an Extraordinary Council Meeting on 30 June.

The recent community consultation provided valuable feedback on the Masterplan principles and options, helping to shape the refinements that will be presented to Council. Residents will be able to review this information before the Extraordinary Council Meeting and speak at the meeting if they wish.

Importantly, this is not the end of the process. Further opportunities to provide feedback will occur as the Masterplan continues to evolve and changes are made based on constructive community responses.

No changes to planning controls can occur without Council and the NSW Government following the formal planning process, which includes multiple stages of assessment, consultation and public input. If the NSW Government determines the process can proceed, a formal public exhibition period will follow.

I strongly urge residents to continue sharing their views so that we can achieve the best possible outcome as we plan for future housing needs while protecting, as best we can, the character and amenity of Mosman.

The significant challenges of traffic, transport and infrastructure were amongst the most frequently raised concerns during the Masterplan feedback. The constraints of the Spit Bridge, improved bus services and the long-term viability of the Spit/Military Road corridor are key issues highlighted in Council’s submission to the Northern Beaches Network Review, which can be viewed on our website: mosman.nsw.gov.au/nbnr-submission.

Encouraging greater use of active transport will be an important part of addressing Mosman’s transport challenges. The NSW Government has advised Council that we must allow the use of shared e-bikes in Mosman. Council is therefore working with Lime to ensure appropriate management, safety and compliance arrangements are in place, and we will keep the community informed as the proposal progresses.

Whether you have Scottish roots or simply enjoy Mosman’s rich history and traditions, I hope you’ll join us at Rawson Park at 10.30am next Monday for the annual Inspection of the Cairn as we celebrate the Scottish heritage that has helped shape Australia and our local community.
