Council Decided – 2 April 2019
MOSPLAN and Budget
Council resolved to place its draft (revised) MOSPLAN 2018-2021 Delivery Program and draft 2019-2020 Operational Plan, Budget and Fees and Charges on public exhibition for a period of one month commencing Friday 5 April.
The draft MOSPLAN documents can be viewed here or by visiting the Civic Centre or Barry O’Keefe Library. Submissions on the documents will be received up until Sunday 5 May. Following community comment, these documents will further considered by Council in June and come into force on July 1 this year.
Community Recycling Centre, Artarmon
After considering a report on future contributions to the Community Recycling Centre at Artarmon, Council agreed to provide a further three years funding for the centre, at an annual cost of approximately $53,000 (or just over $4.00 per Mosman household). The recycling centre, located 15 minutes from Mosman in Waltham Street Artarmon, provides a free collection service for residents of Mosman for items that cannot otherwise be disposed of through regular waste disposal practices. The majority of these items are recycled and include paints, gas bottles, ink cartridges, x-rays, car oil and other types of oil.
Spofforth Street Traffic Management
Council considered a matter referred to it by the Mosman Traffic Committee, noting that the North Sydney Traffic Committee has resolved to investigate a design for the Spofforth Street shopping area including traffic calming, pedestrian access, public domain, landscaping, current bus routes and location of bus stops. It was also noted that, as Spofforth Street is shared between North Sydney and Mosman LGAs, an agreement between both Councils will be required before any changes can be implemented. Council expressed its concern about any parking loss associated with the proposed scheme, which will be further discussed at a future meeting of the Mosman Traffic Committee to be attended by North Sydney’s traffic consultant.
Wombat Crossing on The Esplanade near Hunter Road
In response to community concerns over limited visibility at the wombat crossing on The Esplanade near its intersection with Hunter Road, Council resolved to extend the ‘No Stopping’ restriction on the western approach to the crossing to 20 metres total length.
Waste Messaging on Collection Vehicles
Waste collection vehicles are a common sight in Mosman and other local government areas and have been used in other areas to promote awareness of good waste management practices. Council has resolved to investigate options to use the sides of waste collection vehicles for waste reduction messaging.
