Jetty works

Posted on Monday 24 March 2025

Maintenance works are set to commence in May at Balmoral Baths and Jetty.

It follows Council approval at its March meeting of a contract to complete the project, which will involve replacement of deteriorated timber piles and timber decking and replacement of a broken stainless-steel ladder.

The project is scheduled during the cooler, quieter months to minimise disruption to Balmoral Baths and Jetty users and the general public.

Special consideration will be given to environmental safeguards and controls, as Balmoral Baths is home to endangered species of seahorse and seagrass. The seagrass will be mapped in the construction area to ensure there is minimal disturbance to the ecosystem and a marine ecologist will temporarily relocate seahorses prior to replacement of the timber piles.

The works are part of Council’s Capital Works Program for 2024/25.
