The Premier's Reading Challenge is for all readers from Kindergarten to Year 10 in government, independent, Catholic or home schools and aims to encourage a love of reading for leisure and pleasure in students, and to enable them to experience quality literature. Draft Mosman Library Strategy

Council has endorsed the draft Mosman Library Strategy 2026–2030, voting at its meeting on 3 February 2026 to place the document on public exhibition.

The Strategy outlines Council’s vision and priorities for the next four years of library services, with a strong focus on community expectations. Community input has been central to the creation of the document, and the exhibition period is designed to ensure the final Strategy reflects local needs and interests.

Residents are encouraged to review the draft Strategy and provide feedback via a short online survey. Hard copies of the document are also available for viewing at Barry O'Keefe Library and at the Mosman Council Civic Centre, in addition to being publicly accessible on Council’s Have Your Say website

The public exhibition period will run until Friday 13 March 2026, after which all submissions will be reviewed before the document is finalised.

We encourage community members to have their say and contribute to shaping the future of Mosman’s library services.

Summer Reading Challenge 2025-26

December marks the start of summer and the start of the Summer Reading Challenge at Barry O'Keefe Library. This is an initiative across the Shorelink Library Network – including Lane Cove, Mosman and North Sydney libraries.

The Summer Reading Challenge aims to show that reading can be enjoyable and encourages children and young people to keep exploring and learning throughout the summer months. While we've made it fun with a simple reading challenge, rewards and an end of summer party, the real winners of the program are developing reading as a life long habit and boosting literacy skills this summer.

The challenge kicks off 1 December and runs until 30 January.

Participating is simple:

  • Register – in person at any Shorelink Library to receive your 5 reading tracker bookmarks or through the Beanstack app to track your reading digitally
  • Read – at daycare, the library, or at home. No matter what, where, or with who - every book counts!
  • Log – keep track of your reading progress by logging every 15 minutes read

For every 1 hour logged, collect a free prize from your registered library and receive 1 entry into the major prize draw. By completing all 5 reading tracker bookmarks you will earn a GOLDEN TICKET to the Summer Reading Party.

It's free to join the library and the challenge. Drop into the library today to pick up your Summer Reading Challenge activity booklet, and remember, any kind of reading counts towards the challenge – library books, fiction, magazines, non-fiction, family reading time, re-reading old favourites and more!

Request titles through Libby

Libby is a free library app that allows you to borrow eBooks, eAudiobooks, eMagazines, and more from your local library.

Have you ever searched for an eBook/eAudiobook on Libby but found it wasn't available? Now is your chance to request that we purchase it!

The top 10 titles to be requested through Libby will be purchased by us and added to our online collection. If your title is selected, you will be notified via Libby right away.

To request a title:

  1. Login to Libby (select Shorelink Library Network as your library)
  2. Search for your desired title
  3. Select 'deep search'
  4. Click 'Notify Me'
  5. Click on the notification bell

You will need your library card details, including a barcode number and a pin/password, to access this free resource.

Tagging a title with Notify Me doesn't guarantee that a library will acquire it, but Libby shares your interest (anonymously) with your libraries. If they add the title to the collection, we'll let you know right away.
