Council Decided – 4 June 2024
MOSPLAN, Budget and Fees & Charges
Council recently exhibited its Revised MOSPLAN Delivery Program 2022-2026 (incorporating a review of the 2022-2032 Long Term Financial Plan), and its draft 2024-2025 Operational Plan, Budget and Schedule of Fees and Charges. The period for public comment closed on 12 May and the draft documents were again considered by Council, along with comments received.
Council resolved to adopt all MOSPLAN documents, incorporating minor changes made since draft documents were previously considered in April 2024. The new MOSPLAN documents, which will come into force on July 1 this year, will be available soon on this website.
Sponsorship Policy Review
Council’s Sponsorship Policy provides guidance on the negotiation, approval and administration of agreements relating to external sponsorship of programs, projects and other initiatives delivered by Council. A recent review of this policy found that it continues to provide a sound base for such sponsorship arrangements, ensuring fair and equitable treatment of sponsors, as well as appropriate probity standards and direction to staff on sourcing and management of sponsorship agreements.
Minor grammatical and formatting amendments to the policy were recommended, together with minor changes providing greater clarity and currency – taking into account legislative and Council policy change since the policy was last adopted in 2017. Council resolved to adopt the revised policy including the amendments recommended. The updated policy will be available on the Council/Policies and Forms page of this website.
Balmoral Beach Lighting Upgrade
Council has a longstanding project to upgrade the lighting along Balmoral Promenade. Following resolution of a number of issues that have arisen since the project was first proposed, Council agreed to delegate authority to the General Manager, in consultation with the Mayor, to enter into contracts for the relevant works and to refer additional funding costs to the September 2024 review of Council’s adopted budget. Some of the groundworks for this project will commence in July this year, with works expected to be completed in November.
