Changes to development public exhibition

The NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure announced that the Government’s new statewide Community Participation Plan has been finalised and will come into effect on Tuesday 1 September 2026.
The Plan will apply to all authorities, including NSW Government agencies and councils. For most of our community, the plan will reduce participation by excluding certain development types from public exhibition i.e. you may not be notified of development next door.
Excluded developments can be viewed on page 24 of the Plan.
