Hamlet Lane - Shared Zone

From Monday 25 March 2024, a new Shared Zone speed limit of 10km/h will come into effect for all motorists along Hamlet Lane between Shadforth Street and Raglan Street.

A Shared Zone is a road where the road space is shared safely by vehicles and pedestrians. The maximum speed limit is 10km/h. Drivers must give way to pedestrians at all times and drivers are permitted to park in marked bays only.

Please note that Hamlet Lane is one-way (southbound) but cyclists are permitted to travel in both directions.

Notice of Amendment to DCPs

This public notice is in accordance with sections 14(2) and (4) of the Environmental Planning and Assessment Regulation 2021.

At the Council Meeting held on 5 December 2023, Council resolved to approve amendments to the following development control plans:

  • Residential Development Control Plan 
  • Business Centres Development Control Plan 
  • Open Space and Infrastructure Development Control Plan

The changes include a series of housekeeping amendments that primarily update the development control plans to ensure their alignment with recent changes to NSW planning legislation and policy and to facilitate the implementation of the actions of Council’s endorsed Local Housing Strategy relating to adaptable housing and universal design.

The development control plans come into effect on 14 December 2023. 

Mosman Local Planning Panel EOI

Mosman Council is inviting expressions of interest from the community for appointment of additional Community Representatives to the Mosman Local Planning Panel (MLPP). The appointment of Community Representatives will be additional to the existing three Community Representatives already appointed to the MLPP with a view to achieve a total of not less than four and up to six Community Representatives to the MLPP.

Applications (including an up to date curriculum vitae) must be sent to council@mosman.nsw.gov.au and be received before 5pm on Thursday 5 October 2023.

Pesticide Use Notification Plan

As part of its annual weed control program Council will be undertaking broad scale spraying of selective herbicides on its Parks and Reserves to control broad leaf weeds in turf areas during the following periods: 

  • 24 July 2023 to 4 August 2023 

And if required a follow up application:

  • 21 August 2023 to 25 August 2023 

Council's Pesticide Use Notification Plan requires Council advertise broad scale spraying of herbicide to allow members of the public the opportunity to avoid contact with herbicide application. Council will ensure the herbicides are applied to public places in a safe, responsible manner, minimising harm to the community and the environment. Council will also ensure that all legislative requirements are met and followed. Council will have relevant safety data sheets on hand to respond to enquiries.

Annual Financial Statements

Council proposes to present to the public the audited Financial Statements and the Auditor’s Reports at the Council Meeting on 8 November 2022 for the year ending 30 June 2022.

Any person may make a submission in writing to Council with respect to the Council’s Audited Financial Statements or the Auditor’s Reports.

Copies of the Audited Financial Statements and the Auditor’s Reports may be inspected here or in person at the Civic Centre or Barry O‘Keefe Library.

Submissions close one week after the above public meeting has been held.

Audit Risk and Improvement Committee

Expressions of Interest – Independent Member to Internal Audit, Risk and Improvement Committee

Mosman Council is seeking to appoint an independent member with appropriate skills, to its Audit Risk and Improvement Committee. The key role of the Committee is to provide independent assurance and assistance to Council on its risk, control and compliance framework.

Applicants need not reside within Mosman. The Committee will meet as required, but not less than four times during a calendar year. An attendance fee of $750 per meeting including preparation time is paid to Independent Committee members.

Almora Street stair closure

Mosman Council has approved the closure of the Almora Street stairs from 27 June 2022 for 12 months to facilitate the development of 38 Upper Almora Street.

The closure was considered to be the least impactful and safest option to enable the works on the property, which has no direct road access. Additional signage for pedestrians is being installed.

During the closure period residents are requested to instead use Mandolong Lane or Balmoral Avenue stairs.

Special Event Road Closures – Mini-Mos Fun Run

The Mini-Mos Fun Run 2022 will be held on Sunday 19 June 2022. Complete and partial road closures will occur between 6:00am and 10:30am in the following areas: 

  • Myahgah Road 
  • The Crescent 
  • Gouldsbury Street 
  • Albion Lane 
  • Belmont Road 
  • Prince Albert Street 

Temporary parking restrictions will also be implemented on Myahgah Rd, Gouldsbury St, The Crescent and Art Gallery Way.
