Get back to nature
Council is offering residents an on-site garden design consultation and free plants to help kick start your verge garden.
Verge and nature strip gardens increase biodiversity, reduce the heat island effect and create green corridors. Importantly, they support habitat for birds and insects, enrich community connection, bring character to streets and reduce fossil fuel used in mowers.
You don’t need to own a freestanding home to apply - owners within strata complexes and even renters can also apply for a verge garden.
Council will assess your application and if you get the green light, we will set up a chat with our team for an onsite consultation and plant selection.
Applications are reviewed based on strict guidelines, including potential impacts on pedestrian and traffic movements, neighbouring residents and other users.
To find out more call 9978 4267 or submit your application using the online form.
