Mosman Council’s first Council meeting for 2025 was held on Tuesday 4 February.

Mayoral Minute – Vale John Nelson

Mayor Ann Marie Kimber paid tribute John Nelson OAM who passed away on 16 December 2024. John was recognised for his extensive contributions to the community as Mosman’s 2010 Citizen of the Year. Council extended its sincere condolences to his wife Sandra and the Nelson Family and noted his extensive and enduring contributions to the Mosman community.

Special Event Applications – Humpty Dumpty Balmoral Burn 2025 and Mini-Mos Community Fun Run 2025

Council endorsed two special event applications for key community events in 2025.

Festival of Mosman

Planning for the 2025 Festival of Mosman is currently underway and the program of events for the biennial Festival was presented to Council for endorsement. The Festival will be held across 10 days from 23 October to 2 November 2025. The Festival is Mosman Council’s most significant community event program and is centred on celebrating Mosman’s community participation and spirit.

Quarterly Budget Review 1 October to 31 December 2024

Councillors received the Quarterly Budget Review papers and noted Mosman Council’s continued strong financial position.

Draft Submission for the proposed changes to the Model Code of Conduct

Council endorsed a submission prepared by officers on proposed changes to the Model Code of Conduct, released for consultation by the NSW Minister for Local Government.

Mosman Council, while supportive of the stated goals for changing the Model Code of Conduct, views some of the proposed changes as unworkable and impractical. Council also expressed its disappointment in that it appears that previous feedback provided by councils on the proposed changes has been largely ignored.

Remedial Works to Rawson Oval Pavilion

Council called for tenders and has now appointed a construction company to undertake remedial works at Rawson Oval Pavilion. The works have been determined in consultation with the Mosman Rugby Club and include the installation of solar panels, paint and rendering of walls and other structures, new doors and door frames, balustrades, handrails, guttering and access infrastructure such as a ramp and tactile indicators. The work is in the context of broader concept plans that are identified for future years.
